About
Endra is a generative AI platform for MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) engineering design. Engineers upload a 3D building model (IFC, DXF/DWG, or PDF), select a building code and system type, and Endra automatically generates the code-compliant, clash-free engineering model — including device placement, cable routing, riser diagrams, zone maps, and documentation. Currently live for fire alarm design; electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and other MEP systems are in development. Output can be exported to Revit (via native add-in), DXF/DWG, PDF, RVT, and IFC.
How teams use it
By audience
- MEP Engineering
- MEP engineers upload an architectural IFC or DWG and Endra auto-places compliant devices (smoke detectors, sprinkler heads, light fixtures) across the floor plan.
- Endra generates riser diagrams, cable routing, and zone maps automatically, cutting fire-alarm design for a 500,000 sq-ft building from 2 months to under a day.
- Engineers validate and adjust the generated design in Endra's web UI before exporting the final Revit model or IFC file.
- Calculations and documentation required for permit submission are produced alongside the engineering model.
- Natural-language Q&A interface lets engineers query design rules and adjust parameters without manual CAD edits.
- Designer / Drafter
- Drafters import an Endra-generated design into Revit via the native add-in, mapping Endra device placements to firm-specific Revit family types.
- Routine cable-routing and device-placement tasks are automated, shifting drafter effort toward design review and customisation.
- DXF/DWG and PDF exports let drafters bring results into any CAD environment without proprietary lock-in.
- BIM Coordinator
- BIM coordinators receive clash-free MEP models from Endra, reducing coordination iteration cycles with structural and architectural models.
- IFC output is directly importable into coordination platforms (Navisworks, BIMcollab) for federated model review.
- BIM coordinators can verify code-compliance parameters are embedded in the model metadata before issuing for construction.
By phase
- Design
- During schematic and detailed design, MEP engineers use Endra to generate compliant system layouts from an architect's model in hours rather than weeks.
- Endra's automated calculations and documentation support design freeze and permit submission milestones.
- Iterative changes to the architectural model can be re-run through Endra to update MEP layouts without manual redesign.
