ADP Workforce Now is ADP's mid-market HCM platform combining payroll, HR, benefits, talent, and time/attendance in a single cloud system. In AEC, it is widely used by general contractors, subcontractors, and design firms in the 50–1,000-employee range as their primary payroll and HRIS system, with the ADP Marketplace providing the integration surface to construction-specific apps.

How teams use it

By audience

Accounting & Finance
  • Acts as the system of record for payroll runs, multi-jurisdiction tax filing, and labor-cost data feeding the ERP general ledger.
  • Generates certified payroll reports (WH-347 / state equivalents) for prevailing-wage projects via marketplace add-ons or built-in modules.
  • Posts labor-burden allocations (workers' comp, fringes) by job/cost-code through ERP integrations like Sage 300 CRE, Foundation, or Vista.
Human Resources
  • Single system for hiring, onboarding, benefits enrollment, performance reviews, and termination across the worker lifecycle.
  • ACA tracking, EEO-1 reporting, and harassment/safety training compliance handled in-platform.
  • Self-service portal for employees to access pay stubs, W-2s, PTO balances, and benefits — reducing inbound HR tickets.
IT & Systems Administration
  • Provisions and de-provisions employee accounts via SCIM/SAML for sign-in to other systems (Microsoft 365, Procore, Autodesk, etc.).
  • ADP API Central exposes REST APIs for IT to build custom integrations to construction-specific systems not covered by the Marketplace.
General Contracting
  • GC's HR/payroll backbone for office staff and self-perform crews; integrates with field time-tracking apps to feed weekly payroll.
  • Handles multi-state, multi-union payroll complexity that smaller payroll tools can't accommodate.
Specialty Contracting
  • Manages union vs non-union payroll splits, fringe contributions, and dues remittance for trade contractors.
  • Integrates with field timekeeping tools (eBacon, hh2, busybusy) to capture per-diem, prevailing wage, and project-coded hours.

By phase

Construction
  • Runs continuously to process weekly/biweekly payroll for active jobsite crews, including certified payroll for federal/state-funded jobs.
  • Tracks time/attendance and routes labor cost to the project ledger via integrations with the ERP.
Closeout & Operations
  • Manages workforce off-boarding (final-pay, COBRA, unemployment) as crews demobilize after project completion.
  • Continues handling W-2 and year-end tax for staff retained between projects.
